摘要: Traditional Chinese medicines have been used since the origin of human beings to counteract a number of diseases. Among these
plant derivatives, berberine, which is probably the most widely distributed, possesses a broad range of therapeutic uses as a
promising anticancer leading compound. Recently, more and more reports support the evidence that berberine has anticancer
effects, being able to block the proliferation of or to kill cancer cells. This review will focus on an extensive analysis of berberine
chemical properties, molecular target and the application in cancer in order to provide new directions in the future research.
