Study of the quality control of Lajiao Fengshi cataplasm

Abstract: A method for the quality control of Lajiao Fengshi Cataplasm was established. The description, spectification & size, adhesive property, extractives in the plaster mass and excipients were studied, and the quantification of capsaicin was performed by HPLC. The results of the monitoring of this preparation were in line with the provisions of the 2005 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The content of capsaicin was determined and the calibration curve was linear over the range 0.01824-0.2736 μg (r=0.9998). The average recovery was 97.9 % (RSD=1.7 %). The method developed is simple and practical and can be used for the rapid and precise quality control of Lajiao Fengshi Cataplasm.
