摘要: Several studies are going on worldwide directed towards finding natural antioxidants from plant origin. Literature reviews suggested that Pithecellobium clypearia shows strong free radical scavenging activity against various types of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Therefore, it is necessary to identify selective antioxidant agents from this plant. Phytochemical investigation of Pithecellobium clypearia led to the isolation of 20 known flavonoids. We studied in vitro antioxidant effect and free radical scavenging activity of these known flavonoids. The result showed that compared with the standard, compound 17 exhibited potent antioxidant activity in DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging assays. Moreover, the FRAP value of compound 13 displayed strong activity.
