摘要: Licorice flavonoids are readily obtained from the traditional herbal medicine Glycyrrrhiza uralensis Fischer. In this study,
the pseudo-aldosteronism toxicity of licorice flavonoid dispersible tablets (LFT) in male SD rats was evaluated. The serum
concentrations of sodium, potassium and aldosterone were examined, and the blood pressure was measured on day 0, 14, and
21. The results obtained showed that rats fed LFT exhibited no statistically significant differences in serum sodium, potassium
and aldosterone, and also systolic and diastolic blood pressure in comparison with the CON group. Furthermore, LFT caused
no obvious damage to the heart, aortic vascular system and the kidneys. Therefore, our study shows that LFT did not produce
pseudo-aldosteronism, induced by Glycyrrhizin and the herbal preparation. So, this study provides a good foundation for new
studies involving the further application of LFT.
