Abstract: The chemical constituents of the carpopodiums of Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill. were investigated. Ten compounds were isolated by column chromatography on silica-gel and Sephadex LH-20 and by HPLC. Their structures were identified as β-sitosterol (1), (±)-γ-schizandrin (2), schisandrol B (3), schisandrol A (4), (-)-gomisin M1 (5), (-)-gomisin L1 (6), schizandrin C (7), schisantherin B (8), gomisin G (9) and pre-gomisin (10). All the compounds were separated from the carpopodiums of Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill. for the first time.

Key words: Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill., carpopodium, chemical constituents, dibenzo [a, c] cyclooctadiene lignans
