Abstract: A new fungus strain 2246, isolated from soil, was screened and found to be able to transform ginsenoside Rg1. We separated and purified the biotransformation product from the fermentation broth, then confirmed it as ginsenoside F1 by MS, 13C NMR and HPLC. The active strain 2246 was identified as Penicillium sclerotiorum by morphological and molecular biological methods.
