Abstract: A method based on HPLC was developed to determine the content of congmuyenoside A, congmuyenoside B and congmuyanoside A in leaves of Aralia elata (Miq.) Seem. Chromatography was carried out on an ODS column (150×4.6 mm, 5 μm), using Acetonitrile-H2O-H3PO4 (35:65:0.2) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.8 ml·min-1. The UV detection wavelength was 206 nm and the temperture of the column was 28 ºC. The linear range of congmuyenoside A, congmuyenoside B and congmuyanoside A was 0.6 μg-4.0 μg (r=0.9994) , 0.6 μg-4.0 μg (r=0.9993) and 0.6 μg-4.0 μg (r=0.9997), respectively. The average recovery of congmuyenoside A , congmuyenoside B and congmuyanoside A was 97.5 (RSD=2.7 %, n=9), 97.1 % (RSD=2.8 %, n=9) and 99.6 % (RSD=2.9 %, n=9), respectively. This method provides a basis for the quality specification of leaves of Aralia elata (Miq.) Seem.

Key words: Aralia elata, congmuyenoside A, congmuyenoside B, congmuyanoside A, HPLC
