Research Progress on the chemical constituents and antitumor activities of Wikstroemiaindica (Linn.) C. A. Mey
    2016 (3):  54-60.
    摘要 ( 248 )   PDF(762KB) ( 346 )
Wikstroemiaindica (Linn.) C. A. Mey is the dried bark of the root of Wikstroemiaindica (L.), belonging to Wikstroemia genus of Thymelaeaceae family, is a widely used Chinese Herbal Medicine as a drug, for clearing heat and detoxication in southern China. Recently, Wikstroemiaindica has been proved to have potent anti-tumor activity, which has attracted numerous of attention. Hence, this report is presented as a review centered on its chemical constituents and anti-tumor activity, aiming at its further development and potential as anti-tumor agents.

Two new lanostane type triterpenes isolated from the hepatoprotective active acetone extract of fruits of Luffa echinata Roxb.
    2016 (3):  61-66.
    摘要 ( 261 )   PDF(628KB) ( 347 )
Two new lanostane type triterpenes, lanost 6(7),23(24)-diene-3,11,22trione-20,25-diacetoxy-2-β-16-α-diol (1) and lanost 1(2),6(7),23(24)-triene-3,11,22-trione-20,25-diacetoxy-2,16-α-diol (2) were isolated from the hepatoprotective active acetone fruit extract of Luffa echinata Roxb and their structures were characterized on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical evidences. The isolated compounds are reported in this species for the first time and are new analogs of cucurbitacin B and datiscacin, respectively

In vitro antioxidant and antiulcer activity of some Indian medicinal plants in experimental rats-A comparative study
    2016 (3):  67-75.
    摘要 ( 209 )   PDF(671KB) ( 397 )
To identify the potential lead as in vitro antioxidant and antiulcer activity from selected Indian medicinal plants. The 50% ethanolic extract (crude extract) of A. speciosa, B. prionitis, B. alba, F. indica and C. orchioides were subjected to preliminary phytochemical screening, estimation of total flavonoid content and in vitro antioxidant study like DPPH• , hydroxyl radical and nitric oxide scavenging activity. The crude extract of each plant at a dose of 400 mg/kg b.w were administered orally bis in die for the treatment of ulcer induced by chemical and physical method like aspirin and pylorus ligation induced ulcer models. The total flavonoid content and in vitro antioxidant studies gave the higher values in B. alba among the other selected plants. The crude extract of B. alba leaves gave the best antiulcer activity against A. speciosa, B. prionitis, F. indica and C. orchioides with percentage protection values of 72.4% (aspirin induced ulcer) and 67.4% (pylorus ligation induced ulcer), respectively. The 50% ethanolic extract of leaves of B. alba has higher phenolic content in comparison to the other plants extract, which clearly explains the reason for the strong and efficient in vitro antioxidant and antiulcer activity.
