Chemical composition of the essential oils (EOs) is dependent on the plant species and varieties, and within the same variety, from geographical region. Knowledge of the factors that determine the chemical variability and yield for each species are very important in particular for commercially important species, to optimize the conditions that may affect yields and quality of essential oils. In addition to the commercial importance of the variability in yield and composition, the possible changes are also important when the essential oils and volatiles are used as chemotaxonomic tools. Therefore it is important to characterize essential oils native to Tanzania for commercial and therapeutic purpose. In the present study we investigated the variation in the yield and chemical composition of the essential oils isolated from air dried leaves of three Eucalyptus species namely Eucalyptus saligna, Eucalyptus citriodora and Eucalyptus camaldulensis collected from two different regions of Tanzania namely Morogoro and Lushoto. The steam-distilled essential oil content of E. saligna, E. citriodora and E. camaldulensis Morogoro were 0.6% (v/w), 1.68% (v/w) and 0.80% (v/w) respectively while from Lushoto are 0.30%, 1.22 and 0.36% (v/w) respectively. Using GC/MS, α-pinene (46.72%) and p-cymene (43.61%) were identified as the most abundant chemical constituents of E. saligna from Morogoro and Lushoto respectively. Citronellal (82.24% and 60.41% respectively) is the main constituents of E. citriodora from Morogoro and Lushoto respectively while p-cymene (52.59% and 64.02%) is the main constituents of E. camaldulensis.

    摘要 ( 317 )   PDF(1298KB) ( 539 )
Using molecular docking and computer network pharmacology, the active ingredients from the anticancer herb medicine, Juglans mandshurica Maxim, and the potential targets related to lung cancer were screened out rapidly. Compounds-targets network of J. mandshurica in lung cancer treatment was constructed based on the network analysis. Additionally, the intermolecular forces between the top ten active compounds and the key target protein were explored. At the systemic level, the active components, potential targets, and interactive relations of J. mandshurica in the treatment of lung cancer were studied.

Semen sojae praeparatum is a kind of plant resource used both as medicine and food and has been used in preventing oxidative damage and treating some clinical inflammatory symptoms. However, the involved active mechanisms and the pharmacodynamic material basis of this fermented legume are not clear. Therefore, this study attempts to evaluate the chemical composition and provide further insights of the antioxidant activities of isolated compounds. In the meantime, the anti-inflammatory role and potential mechanisms were investigated. The all results revealed that genistein and it derivatives showed significantly high antioxidant activity. In anti-inflammatory assay, Semen sojae praeparatum extract significantly suppressed acute and chronic inflammation. In vitro results also verified that the extract markedly inhibited inflammatory mediator production at 120 mg/mL. These effects are consistent with previous research about anti-inflammatory activity of flavonoids. Our research also discussed the anti-inflammatory activity of detected constituents on the basis of literature data. It could be concluded that genistein might be showed the most powerful anti-inflammatory activity due to the presence of the phenolic hydroxyl at C-5, C-7 and C-4'. These finding highlight the very powerful antioxidant activity and anti-inflammatory activity of genistein and Semen sojae praeparatum extract, thereby considering its availability as a medicinal or an edible treatment against oxidative and inflammatory diseases.

    摘要 ( 317 )   PDF(506KB) ( 592 )
Notoginseng has the effect of dispersing blood stasis, relieving swelling and pain. It is mainly used for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. At present, because of the wide application of Notoginseng, the market demands a great deal, leading to the emergence of a lot of fake products in the market as authentic Notoginseng, or adulterated in the powder of Notoginseng, which is a great potential harm to consumers. Therefore, the identification of Notoginseng becomes particularly important. Nowadays, scholars have developed a variety of methods for the identification of Notoginseng, including character identification, microscopic identification, physical and chemical identification, protein marker identification and molecular identification. This paper summarizes the research progress of the identification technology of Notoginseng and provides theoretical basis and method basis for the supervision of market of Notoginseng.

    2019 (1):  43-51.
    摘要 ( 300 )   PDF(982KB) ( 740 )
Genkwa flos is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine, which exhibits abundant biological activities such as antiinflammatory, analgesic, immunoregulatory activities and anti-rheumatic arthritis activity. Recent pharmacological studies showed that Genkwa flos might also have the antitumor effect. Daphnane-type diterpenoids (DDs) are one of the main anti-tumor constitutions in Genkwa flos. However, the underlying anticancer molecular mechanisms of this type of compounds are still unclear. This review aims to give a systematic summary of DDs from Genkwa flos to better understand the anti-tumor activitiy by focusing on cell arrest, apoptosis, topoisomerase inhibition, melanin inhibition and the reverse of multi-drug-resistance (MDR). In addition, we are also going to make an overview of the mechanisms identified up to now. The significant findings may provide that DDs in Genkwa flos is a promising targeted-cancer agent.
