    摘要 ( 372 )   PDF(768KB) ( 385 )
This study was evaluated the antimicrobial activities of the crude extract, different fractions, and compounds from the plant of Lomatogonium carinthiacum. The fractions of chloroform and compounds 5, 2 and 6 exhibited stronger antimicrobial activities. Compound 5 was the most active while Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans were sensitive to all the tested compounds. The existence of a relationship between the xanthone structures and inhibition of microorganism activity. The antimicrobial activity of this plant was reported here firstly. The results provided evidence that the studied plant extract, fractions as well as some of the isolated compounds might be potential sources of new antimicrobial drug.

    2020 (4):  153-163.
    摘要 ( 335 )   PDF(1338KB) ( 301 )
Twenty-eight compounds, including flavones (2, 4-5, 7-11), flavonols (1, 3, 6, 21, 22), flavanones (12-18), isoflavones (19, 20), chalcones (23, 24), phenylpropanoids (25, 26), and others (27, 28) were isolated from the ethanol extract of the seeds of Pongamia pinnata (L.) Pierre and identified on the basis of physic-chemical constants and spectral analysis (NMR, ECD, [α]2 0 D ). Among them, compounds 16, 18, 21, 23, 25 and 26 were obtained from the genus for the first time. The cytotoxicities of the purified flavonoids against H292 cells were evaluated using MTT assays. As a result, compounds 14 and 15 displayed moderate cytotoxicities.

    摘要 ( 618 )   PDF(944KB) ( 304 )
As a traditional healing system of India, herbal medicines have been used as therapeutics over a long period of time. In the present study, polyherbal formulations MEF-4 and MEF-8 from two pharmacologically important plants, Camelia Sinensis (CS) and Citrus Aurantium (CA), were studied in vivo for their potential in reducing obesity and hyperlipidemia. These two formulations are different from each other in the manner that they contain two different polymers and that MEF-4 was prepared through cold extraction of CS and CI and MEF-8 was prepared through hot extraction method. Hyperlidemia leads to many complications like hypertension, stroke and heart attack. It also creates complications to the patients suffering from chronic disorders like diabetes and stress. The aim of the present investigation is to assess the effect of these two formulations on the possibility of reducing obesity. The rodents enlisted in hyperlipidemia had taken a high-fat diet for about 14 d. The hyperlipidemic rodents of 250 g were taken in the study, treated with standard eating regimen and high-fat eating regimen orally for 30 d. After treatment for 30 d, blood tests from the MEF-4/MEF-8/standard/vehicle were gathered and an impact on body weight, hematology and lipid profile was investigated. Statistical analysis showed there was a significant increase in cholesterol (CHL), low density lipoprotein (LDL), triglyceride (TG), phospholipids (PHL) change in the body weight of group I (HFD) and II (STD) as compared to group III (MEF-4) and group IV (MEF-8). The decline in triglyceride (P < 0.01) was also noted for MEF-8 when compared to control and standard.

Study on chemical composition of Viscum coloratum and its HPLC fingerprint in different harvest periods
Ruizhen Zhang, Weiqing Wang, Rong Duan, Rong Rong, Zhiguo Yu, Yunli Zhao
    2020 (4):  172-185.
    摘要 ( 295 )   PDF(3899KB) ( 311 )
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the similarity of chemical profile of Viscum coloratum harvested in different months using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) fingerprint and multivariate statistical analysis, and to determine the optimal harvest time of Viscum coloratum. 8 compounds were isolated from Viscum coloratum by a variety of isolation techniques, 3 of which were isolated from the genus Viscum L. for the first time. The fingerprint of Viscum coloratum was established by HPLC, and 16 common peaks were obtained, 4 of which were identified by comparison with the reference substances. Results showed that the Viscum coloratum harvested in 6 months could be roughly divided into three groups based on the chemical profiles, and the Viscum coloratum harvested in January had higher levels of the marked compounds. The HPLC fingerprint objectively reveals the characteristics of Viscum coloratum harvested in different months, which can be used to evaluate and control the quality of Viscum coloratum harvested in different months.

Zhiyong Xu, Yufei Xi, Xiaoxiao Huang, Shaojiang Song
    2020 (4):  186-192.
    摘要 ( 317 )   PDF(942KB) ( 398 )
Phytochemical investigation of peanut testa (the seed coat of Arachis hypogaea L.) led to the isolation of eight phenolic compounds, including caffeic acid (1), methyl caffeate (2), ethyl caffeate (3), methyl protocatechuate (4), ethyl protocatechuate (5), butyl protocatechuate (6), (E)-p-hydroxycinnamic acid methyl ester (7), and resveratrol (8). The structures of the compounds were elucidated through spectroscopic data analysis and comparison with the previously reported literature. Among them, compounds 2, 3, 5, and 6 were obtained from Arachis hypogaea L. for the first time.

Dingding Zhang, Zhuoyang Cheng, Xiaoxiao Huang
    2020 (4):  202-210.
    摘要 ( 368 )   PDF(1769KB) ( 471 )
Gentiana rhodantha Franch. ex Hemsl. (G. rhodantha) is a perennial herb distributed in southwest China, belonging to the Gentiana genus of Gentianaceae family. Previous research indicated that G. rhodantha contains flavonoids, anthraquinones, terpenes and other compounds, which possess the effects of antioxidant, antibacterial, and antitumor. Besides, its dry herb is used as antiphlogistic and antitussive remedy for the treatment of lung, liver, and gallbladder diseases. This review outlines the chemical constituents and biological activities of G. rhodantha, which will be useful for the further research on this plant.
