Mangifera indica Linn (Fam. Anacardiaceae), popularly known as the mango plant, is reported to have antioxidant and antidiabetic properties. The present study was conducted to evaluate the antioxidant and antidiabetic efficacy of the ethanolic extract of young (YLE) and matured (MLE) leaves of Mangifera indica. Methods: This research work was carried out in the month of March and April 2015. Diabetes was induced in rats using streptozotocin. The rats were randomly assigned into six groups: Group I-Normal control (NC), Group II-diabetic control (DC), Group III-diabetic+YLE, Group IV-diabetic+MLE, Group V-matured leaf extract (MLE), Group VI-young leaf extract (YLE) respectively. At the end of the experiment (28 days) blood samples were obtained by cardiac puncture and the erythrocytes and plasma obtained from the blood was used for various experiments. Results: The study proves that the extract of leaves of Mangifera Indica has the ability to positively affect the biomarkers of oxidative stress in diabetic rats. The young leaves extract showed more potential. Conclusion: The ethanolic extract of Mangifera indica has promising therapeutic prospects as an antioxidant for the management and treatment of DM.

    摘要 ( 260 )   PDF(522KB) ( 395 )
The investigation was aimed to determine the optimal formulation and preparation technology of Wurenyunxin tablet, which is composed of Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus and Ziziphi Spinosae Semen. The optimal extraction of raw material was performed by total lignans and total saponin content verifying. We had tried compositions of the core tablets with variation of the amount and kinds of the diluter and the lubricant, as well as the kinds, the amount and adding method of the disintegrant. It was determined to be the optimal preparation process, evaluated by angle of repose, the hardness of the tablets, the difficulty of soft material preparation, and the disintegrating time. The preparation technology was proved to be reasonable, feasible and stable, according to the weight variation and disintegrating time.

    摘要 ( 318 )   PDF(1285KB) ( 699 )
Gardeniae Fructus (Gardenia) is one of composed crude drugs in traditional Chinese medicine bofutsushosan (Pulvis ledebouriellae compositae). In the present study, mechanisms of gardenia for anti-diabetic actions were investigated in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed and streptozotocin-treated (HFD/STZ) diabetic mice. Gardenia was administered orally to HFD/STZ.diabetic male ddY mice at 8 weeks of age. Gardenia (0.3-1.0 g/kg) decreased body weight and value of homeostasis model assessmentinsulin resistance (HOMA-IR) in the diabetic mice. Gardenia (1.0 g/kg) accelerated clearance of 1.5 g/kg glucose administered intraperitoneally and increased an exogenous glucose-released serum insulin level in the diabetic mice. Gardenia also potentiated actions of 63 and 630 ng/kg insulin loaded intraperitoneally on serum glucose level in the diabetic mice. These results implied that gardenia improved the insulin resistance in the diabetic mice. Gardenia decreased levels of triglyceride and cholesterol in serum and liver of the diabetic mice, reduced serum levels of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, leptin and free fatty acid (FFA) and increased serum level of adiponectin in the diabetic mice. Gardenia also reduced the production of TNF-α and leptin, and increased the production of FFA and adiponectin in the epididymal adipose tissues. In conclusion, gardenia decreased the production of TNF-α and leptin, and increased the production of adiponectin in the visceral adipose tissues to improve insulin resistance and increased levels of serum triglyceride and cholesterol in the HFD/STZ-diabetic mice.

    摘要 ( 301 )   PDF(606KB) ( 530 )
Metastasis is one of the most characteristics of tumor, which is also the main factor affecting tumor therapy and relates to the patient survival time. Over the last two decades, more and more researches on the active ingredients of natural medicine and their anti-tumor metastatic activities, achieving many results and showing many benefits in anti-tumor metastasis. This paper summarizes the results of recent years, especially since 2010. Hope that it is conducive to tumors treatment.
