Absolute configuration of curdione and its three isomers by NMR, ECD and DFT calculations: an insight into the scope of unsaturated ketone helicity rule based on an ECD study
Feiting Zhang, Yuxin Li, Tianhui Zhu, Wenhe Zhang, Bin Qin, Song You
    2018 (1):  1-9.
    摘要 ( 330 )   PDF(800KB) ( 611 )
The stereostructures of curdione and its other three isomers with two stereogenic centers, C-4 and C-7, were studied each by electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy for determination of their absolute configurations. Their expected spectra based upon the density functional theory calculations were reasonably well agreed on experimental spectra. Furthermore, it was reported for the first time that these compounds, which have the unsaturated ketone groups with the distance between the two unsaturated carbon atoms less than about 2.55Å, can be applied to the unsaturated ketone helicity rule.

    摘要 ( 322 )   PDF(1193KB) ( 628 )
Many plant species of the family Simaroubaceae are traditional Chinese medicine, and three significant genera of the family Simaroubaceae are Picrasma quassioides, Brucea javanica, and Ailanthus altissima. Besides, they are all collected by Chinese pharmacopoeia. The significant quassinoids in these plants have been speculated to be anti-cancer agents and have been demonstrated to be effective by abundant researches. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms of herbs remain unclear. In this study, polytype models by integrating molecular docking and network pharmacology were employed and the relation among the small-molecule compounds of quassinoids, target proteins, biological pathways and several cancers was analyzed. The potential active quassinoids in plants of the family Simaroubaceae, the potential target proteins and the key pathways were predicted by network pharmacology models. These attempts may offer several new insights to understand the pharmacological properties of Simaroubaceae plants and provide crucial material for their further development and research.

Harrisonia perforata (Blanco) Merr. is a bitter shrub throughout southeast of Asia, belonging to the Harrisonia genus of Simarubaceae family. Its roots, stems, leaves and branches had been utilized as a folk medicine to treat cancer, malaria and wound healing. Previous researches indicated that H. perforata mainly contains limonoids, prenylated polyketides and chromones, which possessed a spectrum of biological activities. This paper summarized the primary chemical constitutions and pharmacological activities of H. perforata for the follow-up study of this plant.

    摘要 ( 382 )   PDF(1306KB) ( 593 )
Camptotheca acuminata Decne is a deciduous tree which is endemic to China and mainly distributed in the south regions, belonging to Camptotheca genus of the Nyssaceae family. Its barks and fruits had been utilized as a folk medicine to treat cancer, virus, bacteria, and vitiligo. Previous phytochemistry studies on the fruits of C. acuminata led to the isolation of alkaloids, ellagic acids, fatty acids, terpenoids and other compounds. Numerous researches have shown that these compounds possess multiple biological activities and which has attracted great attention of worldwide researchers. By investigating the literature from 1966 to 2016, this article is going to make an overview of the chemical constituents and biological activities of the fruits of C. acuminata, which is uesful to make a further research research on the fruits of C. acuminata.
